Generally, the migrants must pay 1 to 3000 euro to be brought up to the border and then smugglers pick them up 3 hours later after the migrants cross the border on their own, and then they travel onward.
There are 90 policemen working at the border: 30 at the border crossings, 30 in the fields and 30 process the migrants after their capture. Apparently, they have interpreters for several languages. They think they will have to call in more off-duty cops if the numbers increase. They have caught about 17 thousand migrants from 68 countries, as of 12 November — in 2013 this was total number for the year. 2300 of them were children and the police arrested 136 smugglers. The cops also said that the migrants approach them already with their arms up because they want to be caught. In the detention facility the migrants can eat, have a wash and within 24 hours they are taken to a refugee camp. Many migrants stay in touch with relatives in the camps and they ‘even know what the menu is the next day’ in the camps. A short article on szegedma.hu about the capture of 519 migrants carries the story with a ridiculous headline: ‘The border offender, who was caught at Röszke, gave birth to a migrant baby’ .Check the photo.
