These three days, “border management experts” have gathered in Budapest to discuss the future of how borders, these precious babies, should be treated. Why attend? The BORDERPOL website tells us: “..you will also gain an insight into what the future holds for the management of migration and refugee movement, as well as systems and technologies employed in fighting illegal border activities, including drug and people traffikking” (Spelling mistake in original). And for this, you pay 650 EUR to attend.

Enough of sarcasm. For a Syrian refugee to receive her rights in Europe, she must travel thousands of kilometers, possibly die in the process and then only possibly the 'Europe based on rights' will recognise those rights. These BORDERPOL people are purposeful hindrance to those rights. The system, cornered in the Dublin Regulation and executed through FRONTEX (the European external border agency), is also using Hungary to its end of keeping refugees away from from Western and Northern Europe - this is what Hungary is for, really. Even if that is the point they try to make, BORDERPOL, an embodiment of “international border management community”, has nothing to do with protecting innocent, virtuous (and often white) Europeans from the evils of ISIS, dubious refugees and the like. From our own tax money (channelled through), this so-called community is cruelly blocking the door to Europe from those who need to enter the most. It is not only our duty to protest because people, actual people with hopes, frustrations, fears and memories, literally die at the borders. It is our duty to protest against conferences like BORDERPOL so that we, more or less happily inside the Fortress Europe, will not remember our own history as that of mass murder on our doorstep.
